New to conservation board

Tony Wright, ex-Turoa ski fields general manager and now a Taupo accountant, has been appointed to the Tongariro Taupo Conservation Board. Also appointed earlier this month were Taupo District councillor Tim Hurley, Taupo Forest and Bird Protection Society secretary Laura Gibson; treasurerof theTongariro Natural History Society John Newton; and John Nankervis, a Wellington lawyer who served on the original conservation board. Re-appointed were Sir Hepi Te Heuheu, Laura Dawson of Taupo, Virginia Fox of Turangi, Matiu Mareikura of Ohakune, Whakapumautanga Downs of Waitahanui, Harry Miller of Taupo and Kevin Hackwell of Wellington. The board' s role is to help the Department of j Conservation to formulate policy but also to advise | and monitor the work carried out by the depart- j ment.
