Cold Kiwi finds new home
Following the Army's closure of Six Cross Camp, the organisers of the 23rd Cold Kiwi motorcycle rally have chosen a new site on State Highway 49 between Waiouru and Ohakune. ^ The old site, used for the past 22 rallies, was at the highest point on the Desert Road but is now closed to civilian use.
The new site is on the property of Ted and Anne Bates at Tangiwai; and is surrounded by trees and next to a hill which is to be used for the obligatory hill-climb, said Ruapehu Motorcycle Club spokesperson Tracey Mildenhall. Miss Mildenhall said she thought the rally would still'be successful, and that it was time for a change.
