New CD officer for RDC

Ruapehu District Council staff member Stan Dulieu has been appointed as civil defenceofficer for the district. Council deputy chief executive Chris Ryan said the decision was taken to make an internal appointment rather than attempt to recruit a civil defence officer from the wider community. "The position of civil defence officer is always difficult

to fill because of the specia 1 skills sets involved. Stan brings to the position a detailed knowledge of the District and communities and has a good knowledge of the existing organisations," said Mr Ryan. "He will ensure that there is a strong civil defence capa-

bility and continue with the ongoing links with volunteers and contacts throughout the District." Stan Dulieu was employed firstly by the Taumarunui County Council and, after amalgamation, the Ruapehu District Council for a total of approximately nine years. He will be working out of the Huia Street office in Taumarunui and can be contacted on 07-895-8188.
