Rail excursion

A rail excursion pass for a return trip from Ohakune to National Park on the Overlander may soon be available. Ruapehu District Council marketing manager Bruce Rollinson is working with New Zealand Rail on a Taumarunui-Raurimu train excursion and is also looking at the Ohakune - National Park trip. He said both the packages will be possible because of the Overlander' s new schedule which sees the north and south-bound trains cross over at National Park. He said tourist operators will be consulted as part of the development and it is hoped the travel pass will be available for this summer.
