Arcadian singers go to air
Taihape' s Arcadian Singers are to feature on national radio's Epilogue programme on Sunday 16 July. The choir applied to audition for the programme and Ian Johnston from National Radio in Palmerston North made a recording of the choir' s programme on 19 June. Epilogue is a 20 minute programme of readings and music on Sunday nights at 10.05pm. Each choir presents two hymns and two or three other items, one of which should be a New Zealand composition, all totalling 16 minutes. An audition does not mean automatic selection so it is quite an achievement for a rural community choir. The Arcadians have musical director and conductor Helen
Gordon (concert pianist Helen Collier) to thank for their success, according to a representative. "It is due to Helen' s musicianship and leadership that the choir has developed over the years to its present standard," stated the choir member.
