Waimarino Darts
Saturday 8 April Wanganui Cosmopolitan Club challenged Waimarino Dart Club in their annual event. It was a very close competition resulting in a 32 - 31 win to W anganui. Sunday 9 April a team of eight players from Waimarino Dart Club travelled to Otorohanga to try out for the King Country Zone teams, to attend the New Zealand Championships to be held in Nelson 11-16 June. The standard of competition was very high, and the club has proudly announced that Fatty Hiroti and Stephen Wallace were selected for the men' s team. Ginger Callaghan missed out in a play off for the women' s team. Of the six 180's scored, Lois Penning (who scored her first 1 80) Stephen Wallace and Fatty Hiroti contributed three. Waimarino is now a member of the NZ Darts Council. Monday 10 April was back to normal club night with a doubles night held. Chris Windle and Stephen Wallace came out the winners after a play-off with the runners-up Lou and Glenn Most. High start went to Glenn with 1 20. Lou won the high finish of 70 and also won the high score of 140, after a play-off with Arvell Wallace, Robert Herbert and Stephen.
