Raetihi gives to bash

Raetihi retailers and business proprietors gave generously when a collection was made for the Variety Bash, by Noeline Churton from the Information Centre. The collection was made and donations were put in one of the fluropink pigs that made its first appearance in the Heartland television programme. The pig, heavy with plenty of money inside, was handed over to one of the Variety Bash vehicle's drivers by Noeline, assisted by Faith Wise, dressed in outrageous clothes and wigs. The vehicle involved was a 'San Diego Police Car' filled with appropriately dressed 'cops' — American style — from the Cronulla Rotary Club from Australia who had come over especially for the Variety Bash. Photos were taken and it is hoped that some copies will be available for publication, showing the generosity of the Raetihi retailers and business houses.
