Libraries on-line soon
Work has started on the development of a computer link between the Ruapehu District libraries, to allow the full library stock to be more readily aecessible to everyone. A library computer cataloguing system allows easy searches for books, usually by a variety of categories such as title, author, subject or publisher. Users can type in details and the computer
will search the flies and display details of what is available through the libraries, which library the book is stored at and whether it is out on loan. Before Ohakune goes on computer all library members need to re-register for new library cards, said librarian Wendy Hubbard. She asks new and existing members to call in at their convenience.
The winner of the annual family rental card for 1995, donated by the Ruapehu District Libraries, was "a delighted" Kandy Barrett, said Mrs Hubbard.
