Ohakune squash
An Ohakune Men's and Women' s team both travelled to Wanganui to play ^one finals against winning teams from the Wanganui/ Manawatu and Taranaki zones. The ladies played Rangitikei with the following results: Kathryn Gust bt Robyn Pratt 9/0, 9/1, 9/3; Tania W aerea bt Kath Craig 9/2, 9/7, 9/6; Jenny Gearihy bt Trinette Mott 9/1 , 9/7, 9/ 6; Jill Richardson bt Erin Workman 9/3,7/9, 9/5, 9/7 ; Sylvia Snowdon bt Karen Hughes9/2,9/2,9/2.Aconvincing win to Rangitikei 5-0. The men's team played Wanganui first with the following results: John Laurenson bt Mike V an Del Den 9/0, 9/2, 9/4; Greg Brown lost to Kevin Battersby 9/5, 9/1, 9/2; Darren Triggell bt Gordon Hanlon 6/9, 1/9,9/3,9/1,9/ 2; Kenneth Young lost to Robert Christensen 9/3, 9/ 7, 9/0; Warren Hyslop lost to Paul Bullock 9/2, 9/1, 10/8. A narrow win to Wanganui 3-2. Ohakune then had to play Kawaroa Park from New Plymouth with the following results: John Laurenson bt Greg Prouser 9/6, 9/4, 9/4; Greg Brown lost to Ken Twaddle 9/3, 9/0, 6/9, 9/6; Darren
Triggell bt Ross Dixon 9/3, 5/9, 3/9, 9/2, 9/5; Kenneth Young lost to Chris Sansen 9/6, 9/5, 9/4; Warren Hyslop lost to Lorry Valentine 9/3, 10/8, 9/4. An overall win to Kawearoa Park 3-2. Wanganui beat Kawaroa Park to win The Central Districts Zone E Grade. The play-offs were certainly good experience for all invol ved with Darren T riggell in particular gaining valuable grading points.
