Lightening knocks out water plant

Ohakune' s water treatment plant received its latest blow from a lightening strike, which put the plant out of action last Thursday.

The water reservoir was full at the time, minimising the impact of the fault. Staff managed to manually control the plant after the strike disabled the computer control system, and later on Thursday night a computer serviceman from Waihi reprogrammed the equipment, bringing it back into service.
