All staff on deck
Whakapapa is well prepared for the onslaught of holiday skiers with a full complement of 380 staff. The number of staff in the food and beverage sector has increased, ensuring the high standard of eating facilities around the mountain are matched with fast and efficient customer service. Ruapehu Alpine Lifts is sticking with a policy of employing locals where possible and the majority of staff this year are New Zealanders living in communities around the mountain. Nearly 60% of last season's staff have been re-employed by RAL. Personnel Supervisor, Anne Margaret Campbell, says the company's achievement in winning last year's New Zealand Tourism Award for Service Enhancement has been a big morale booster. "Staff now expect to offer a superior level of service and everyone this season is aspiring to lift the standards even higher", she says.
