Brigade ski races on again

The Sixth Annual New Zealand Fire Fighters' Ski Races burn up the slopes of Turoa Ski Resort in September and promise plenty of spectator excitement if previous years' competitions are any indication. Racers take to the slopes 29-30 September for some memorable skiing. This year Ohakune is determined to wrest back the prestigious trophy that was taken away by a crack Auckland team in 1993. Ohakune' s team is still being kept under wraps but suffice to say that the Ohakune contestors have a few surprises in store this year. A maximum of 40 teams will compete this year with around 15 teams already registered. Competitors will follow the same course layed out at Turoa Ski Resort as in previous years. The apres ski activities promise to be almost as much fun as the on-mountain competition, with plenty of action planned for both nights.
