Fire guts garage

The Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade attended a fire at a Carter Terrace, Ohakune, residence at around 8.45am on Sunday morning. Two appliances attended the fire that was believed to have started from a faulty plug on a waterbed. The blaze was contained in an aluminium garage. Extensive damage was done to the interior of the building. ' The sole occupant of the garage at the time of the fire was taken to Waimarino Health Centre suffering from minor burns and shock. Friday's Ohakune brigade call-out was to attend to a tractor fire.
