Waimarino Golf

On Sunday the club went north to Taumarunui to defend the Mason Cup. The weather was kind, the course excellent T aumarunui must be congratulated on their win, with their average of 41 to Waimarino' s 39 points. Individuals to do well were Richard Mabbot, the overall mens winner on 41 points, and Andrew Murdie on 40 points in second place. Good rounds were also had by Trevor Frederick Senior with 37, Jackie Williamson on 37 andCarol Leary on 36. It was not a good day for Waimarino president Dave Herewini who scored a disasterous 1 8 pts. Dave had to defend himself all night with jibes about why he didn't do the second nine. Club captain Don Windle may be less inclined to take bets against young upstarts like Richard Mabbot in future. Overall a very good day was had. Thanks to the organisers and the participants from both clubs.
