Fire hydrants to be fixed

Fire hydrants in Ohakune and Raetihi that need repair will receive immediate attention, council area engineer Don Sattler told the Waimarino Community Board at their July meeting. Mr Sattler presented a report which outlined the state of hydrants in the two towns, which showed that 160 hydrants in the two towns needed attention. Seven in Ohakune were unserviceable and two in Raetihi. Mr Sattler was praised for the report by the board. "It is thanks to the efforts of Mr Sattler that this report came about," said John Compton. He said Mr Sattler had been dissatisfied with a previous report so called for the second one. His actions were important for the sake of public safety, said Mr Compton.
