Ruapehu Road works update

Work on seal extensions around Waimarino has been under way during May and June, with some now completed. Smiths Road and Golf

Course Road off RaetihiOhakune Road have had seal extensions as have Nei Street and Miharo Street in Rangataua. Kerb and channel and

seal smoothing work in Foyle Street, Ohakune, is under way but has been delayed due to bad weather, along with the re-decking of the Ruapehu Road

bridge. Sandblastingandrepainting of the beams has been completed and work remaining is reassembling the bridge. Completion date for this work is now set at Monday 4 July. Work on Raetihi Ohura Road culvert replacement and minor alignment improvement was changed when the existing culvert collapsed and an unstable rock had to be removed. Council officers said it was fortunate that the contractor was already on-site

when the urgent work had to be done. Wet weather has also delayed work on the flood damage repairs to two large drop-outs on Pipiriki Road at 1 1 .4 and 7 kilometres. Other southem area road works either completed or under way are water tabling and roadside drainage on the Ohakune Mountain Road, Dreadnought Road, Old Mangawhero Road, Ngamuku Road Rangataua and Marino Street also in Rangataua.
