Waiouru Swimming Club AGM turnout disappoints
A disappointing turnout at the recent annual general meeting of the Waiouru Swimming Club was attributed to a mix-up with the publicised date of the meeting. The AGM was held on Wednesday 4 May but inadvertantly advertised as being Saturday 7 May. To this end it was decided to hold a second meeting on Wednesday 25 May at the Waiouru Community Centre, commencing 6pm.
A long-standing problem within the club is the lack of coaches for the 200plus children who serve as members. Those interested in coaching should contact head coach Billy Unsworth, extension 7580; president/ club captain Mike Dench, extension 7280 or home 387 6891; treasurer P.J. Clark, extension 7205 or home 387 6838. The club intends to run coaching clinics for prospective coaches throughout June and July. Those interested are invited to let any of the committee members know so that their names can be included on the coaching clinic lists. The club is also appealing to parents for ongoing support.
