Waimarino Golf

A very successful 72hole match play tournament was held over the weekend, with some very good golf being played - many of the games going to the 18th hole. The winner of the open grade was again Trevor Barnard from Wanganui who beat P. Dawson from Whangamata. It was pleasing to see so many visitors from outside clubs who came for the weekend. Past members returnedbringing with them members of their new clubs. Some past members still playing good golf include Gary Allerby, Terry Tapp, Jason Pepene and Arlie Robinson. The club's thanks go to all the people who helped make the tournament a success, in particular Don Windle, Ross Brown, Ian Strachan and Mick Kennedy, who helped keep the competition running smoothly. Thanks also to the ladies who helped with the meals and bar duty. Lastly to Silver, for his cooking expertise.
