Kiwi sadness

• I was saddened to read that two dead kiwis had been found in the Tongariro National Park. In the grand scheme of things the loss of two birds does not rate highly. When one considers that the estimated population in the whole area hadbeen only 20 birds, the loss of two birds has great significance. The tragedy is that the loss of the two birds could largely be attributed to the Jack of forethought on the part of the humans . Kiwis, the human kind, think we are the superior of the two species. We have the ability and obligation to protect the feathered variety.
