Bowls

The Raetihi Bowling

Club held its closing day on Easter Sunday with a tournament sponsored by McCarthy Transport. Players from Owhango, Ohakune, Taihape and Wanganui entered the tournament making a total of 1 0 teams competing. The weather was fine for the day although a little cool but the players all worked hard to give their team their very best. Winners were the Taihape team: Dave Jones (skip), Mike Barone (3), Wilson Auld (2) and Daryl Jones (lead). This team is made up of two young players, the father of one and another senior player. The combination of age worked well for this team. Runnersup team were: Diane Martin (skip), Richard Carmichael (3), Bryce Battersby (2) and Robin (from Owhango lead). The wooden spoon team was: Robin Scarrow (skip), Bob McGinnis (3), Curly Wylie (2) and Joce Craig (lead). The tournament finished with a barbecue making a good finish to the day. Organis'er Diane Martin thanked the sponsors for their help and the players for their support during the season and is happy with the club's situation.
