Motocross
Three local riders: Shauff Fredricksen, Raetihi; Daniel Richards and Robbie Lilburn of Ohakune took part in the two-day North Island Junior Motocross championship event held at the Digger McEwen motorcycle Park in Taupo at Easter. The event was held in excellent conditions with hard competition from riders from throughout the country. All three riders rode well, but Daniel took a hard fall and broke his collar-bone early in racing. Robbie rode in the 81 lyrs class and managed to maintain a good position.
Shaun rode to 5th place overall. He was holding 3rd position for most of the weekend until the last race when another competitor fell in front of him taking him out and sending him to fifth position. The next major event is the national Junior Motorcycle Champs in Mosgiel in May in which Daniel and Shaun will be in action, trying for a national title.
