The King Country Area Team for Horse Trial Championships to be held at Masterton in May consists of - A1 C Davey (Statesman); DC S Davey (Money Talk), S Williams (Rebellion), A Garland (Shadow) ; Reserve DC, L Cochrane (Sylvester Stallone). Waimarino darts On Tuesday 15 March the Waimarino Club played the . Waiouru RSA. Although the competition was very close at one point, Waimarino were comfortable winners at the end of the competition. On 21 March a club doubles night was held. The winners were: Arvell Wallace and Dave Parks, with no loss. Runners-up were the father and son team of Lou and Glenn Most, with one loss. Highest start, 106, Dave Parks; Highest score, 140, Stephen Wallace, (Ginger Callaghan also scored 140 but didn't enter the competition); Highest finish, 86, Stephen Wallace. The wooden spoon went to Nancy Parata and Rosalind Foster. Ladies Golf Sunday and Wednesday saw some good rounds of golf played by the Waimarino lady golfers who were aiming for the three places in the Spalding Cup team. The successful players are A Barrett, E Rush, K Greenwood and marker L Drinkwater. The two's scorers for the day were J Martin, L Eades and E Goldfinch. Jean Hewitt spoke to the members on why she was standing as the Wanganui - Manawatu Representative for the NZLGU executive. She said she felt the time was right for new ideas and approaches to the golfing scene. Duty players for 30 March are J Mathews and N Winter.
