Council cash call for rugby lights

The Ohakune Rugby Club has asked for reserves funds money for lighting for Rochfort Park in time for this year's rugby season. The former Waimarino District Council (WDC)

approved in principle spending some of the Ohakune Subdivision reserves funds on lighting for the grounds, before the district was amalgamated with Taumarunui. The Wai marino Community Board called for a report on how much the project would cost, and decided the application should

be considered at the same time as all applications for the funds (see separate story). Board member John Compton said the WDC dissolved some time ago and that the current urgency was due to recent publicity about the fund. Ben Goddard said the funds were promised in

principle and that it should be honoured.
