Waimarino pony club
After an extremely busy two days of competition in the Olympian North Island Show Jumping Championships at Cambridge, the
Waimarino Pony Club team returned home well pleased with their efforts. Forty-four teams competed at the championships including a visiting team from Queensland riding borrowed ponies. Each team could comprise of six riders, two riders in three age groups making a total of up to 88 riders in each group. The Waimarino team comprised of Nicola Smith riding Pal-O-Mine; Shelly Gotlieb, Ascot (13yrs and under) and VictoriaDuigan, Chamahl; Amanda Garland, The Shadow (14yrs and under 17) with no riders in the 17yrs and under age group. Each rider competed in five events and the team recorded 1 2 clear rounds in all, with all members riding exceptionally well. The team was ably assisted by Cameron Morris and Sally Williams as grooms and all including parents enjoyed i and gained valuable expel rience from the two days of competition. Eventual win- : ners were Bay of Islands
for the third consecutive year. Dressage Waimarino Pony Club trialists for the King Country area dressage team took part in two days of training with team trainer Judy Simpson last week prior to the King Country area dressage competition of 20 January. Two Raetihi Pony Club members, KushlaEdgarton riding Bolero and Sally Williams, Rebellion gained places in the team. In the 12,yrs and under age group Claire Hyland and Nicola Smith rode well for placings in each of their classes. Results Class 1: 1st Kushla Edgarton, Bolero; 2nd Channelle Davey, Statesman; 3rd Sally Williams, Rebellion; 4th Kerri Stratford, Metallica. Adults - 1 st Evelyrt Cooper, Jade; 2nd Sandy Ripo, Simply Red. Class 2: 1st Channelle Davey, Statesman; 2nd Kushla Edgarton, Bolero; 3rd Sally Williams, Rebellion; 4th Stazirae Davey,
Money Talk. Adults - 1st Evelyn Cooper, Jade; 2nd Sandy Ripo, Simply Red. Class 3; 1st Claire Hyland, Guy; 2nd Bridget Plowman, Little Lucifer; 3rd Nicola Smith, Pal-O-Mine; 4th Nicola Smith, Sergeant Major. Class 4: 1st Bridget Plowman, Little Lucifer; 2nd Claire Hyland, Guy; 3rd Nicola Smith, Pal-O-Mine; 4th Nicola Smith, Sergeant Major. The King Country Area Dressage team will travel to Gisborne in April to compete in the Zone final against teams from Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Gisborne/ Wairoa. The team comprises of: Junior (15yrs and under) Kushla Edgarton, Sally Williams and Lisa Cochrane; Senior (16yrs and under 21) Channelle Davey, Kerri Stratford and Stazirae Davev.
