Christian Heritage Rangitikei Keith Burgess

The Rangitikei electorate is basically rural but still suffers from the main issues as most other areas of New Zealand, which has been brought about by the humanistic policies of Government over the past two decades. It is not until New Zealand changes this basic humanistic thrust and returns to its Christian principles, that all of New Zealand will gradually benefit. Our policies are long-term, not short-term crutches. This will bring about a completely new base which by supporting exports by the farmers and small businesses

will encourage more employment and having paid off our overseas debt will gradually lower tax rates and bring about a decent society for all. By changing first the moral base, we will succeed in all areas. We are the only party who faces up to conscience issues with actual policies, eg we ac- ' cept the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. This means that abortions will become illegal as will any form of euthanasia or medical suicide. As a check against potential excesses of Government, we promote the concept of citizens initiated referenda in cases where a Government seeks to legislate beyond the terms of its mandate. It is for this reason we support MMP. All our policies are based with the family at the centre and our main aims are: Less Government control and greater personal family and community freedom and responsibility; a return to true justice, law and order; economic opportunity and full employment; an excellent standard of education

and health; a caring environment for one another. Although all of our policies are based on Scripture, it does not mean that we would make religious laws. I believe that the principles set out in the bible present a secure framework for a code of practice for the wise government of our nation.
