Fiona Elizabeth Evans, 19, part-time worker of Karioi, pleaded guilty to one charge of careless driving and to one charge of driving with excess breath alcohol (750/1) in Ohakune on 21 July. Court heard how defendant who had been drinking with a friend, had not realised how much alcohol she had consumed (nearly twice the legal limit) before she collided with another vehicle at the Miro Street/ Ayr Street intersection. Considerable damage was done to both vehicles. On the charge of driving with excess breath alcohol she was convicted and sentenced to 100 hours community service and disqualified for 8 months.
