Waimarino Health Watch Committee and Waimarino Rest Home Committee members met to discuss the possibility of locating the Health Centre and Rest Home together and of detailing the joint committee's priorities in terms of future Health Care and Services in the Waimarino as discussed at last Monday's Public Meeting. The following list of options regarding the Health Centre and Rest Home was decided on and sent to Good Health Wanganui to notify them of this communities wishes: • A preference to siting the Health Centre and Rest Home together in separate buildings but planned so that kitchen, medical room and laundry could be shared facilities. The additional benefits of security, staffing, joint facilities, community interest, ground maintenance and utilisation of parking were
noted. The committees believe there are several sites that could be available and suitable for such a joint venture. • If it is not possible to have the Health Centre and Rest Home as a joint venture it is still preferred to site the new Health
Centre downtown. • A shared facility - Rest Home and Health Centre - at the present Health Centre located on the existing site in Ward Street, Raetihi. • Maintaining the present level of Health Services including full
24-hour nursing care remain essential. Both committees are anxious to jointly meet with the Wanganui Crown Health Enterprise board as soon as possible to discuss the feasibility of these ideas.
