School changes

There have been a few changes to the positions of some staff at Raetihi Primary School following principal Neil Hammond's taking long-term sickleave. "As a result of Neil being on long-term sickleave I am now acting principal," said Collette Taylor, "Ruth Jackson is acting deputy principal, Elizabeth Penny acting assistant principal and Alison McGregor is the acting senior teacher in the senior school." It is not known when Neil Hammond will return to Raetihi Primary.
Sports Standard four to Form two pupils had a sports afternoon on Monday 26 July with Ohakune Primary School pupils coming to Raetihi to compete in games of rugby and netball. The aftemoon resulted in Raetihi winning one game of rugby and two games of netball. "It was a really great aftemoon. The children were enthusiastic and there was a great parent tum-out,"
comment.ed acting principal Collett Taylor. Waimarino police constable, Brian Wilson has been at Raetihi Primary School during the last two weeks. "His lessons seem to be working well and it is good that the police are coming into the school again as the children get to know them and they don't feel quite so intimidated in the presence of a policeman," said Mrs Taylor.
