Close quake

If you thought the earthquake on 20 June felt close - you're right. The Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences reports that the quake was 114km deep, magnitude 5.4 and centred due south of Lakes Reserve and just north of Oakukurua Road 25kms south west of Ohakune. The quake on 24 July was about 56km deep, magnitude five and centred just out of Feilding.
