Mts to sea entries
Seven thousand entry forms for the Lifespan Mountains to Sea threeday multisport endurance
event have been distributed nationwide. Race director Chris Knol, said he expects all 220 places to fill quickly for the Labour Weekend race. "The entries are divided into seven categories including men's, women's and veteran's individual, and team entries. There are also teams expected for the Smokefree iwi teams' challenge and the Smokefree schools' challenge. We expect the tatai number of participants to be around 600", Mr Knol said. "When you add support people and media crews into the equation the tatai number of people will swell to 1000. The event is gaining a reputation as an event to follow", he said. The Department of Conservation impose a limit of 1000 people on site during the race to minimise any environmental impact on the Tongariro National Park and Whanganui River.
