Women's suffrage 100 years old
Raetihi shares its 100 years with another important group of people - New Zealand women, ; who have now had the right to vote for a century. Celebrations of the centenary of New Zealand Women's Suffrage are taking place all over the country, including the Waimarino. A special meeting is to , take place next month to plan local events - we'll keep you posted. One event already planned is a women's climb of Mt Ruapehu, to Crater Lake, as part of the "Summits for Suffrage" programme, for 13 February.
