Success for rider
Raetihi rider Cindy Langdon has started the , year successfully by becoming the King Country Area candidate for the Inter-Pacific selections to be held in Christchurch in February. The Inter-Pacific exchange is a biennial event and hosted by a different country for each
event. The 1993 exchange is being hosted by the Canadian Pony Club in Alberta, Spruce Meadows and British Columbia. Teams from Great Britain, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and America are also taking part. Cindy is one of 25 contenders vying for a place in the New Zealand team of five riders. To be eligible for selection candidates must
be 17 years and under 21 years of age, must be a holder of B certificate exam or higher and must be proficient riders and handlers of strange and unfamiliar horses in all situations. Other Inter-Pacific team members include Ohakune rider Tania Taylor in 1989 when New Zealand hosted the exchange, local vet David Seifert who toured Canada and Paddy Schofield, who toured New Zealand.
