Rate-payers too
• Reading the letter from Independent Voice prompted me as a ratepayer who lives in Ngauruhoe Street west to write this letter to point out a few issues that may steer your selfishness elsewhere. • Ruanui, Rangipo, Main Road, State Highway 49 and Ngauruhoe Street east all have their roads maintained. • Rangipo, Main Road and Ngauruhoe Street east have footpaths. • Rangipo has five street lights, Ruanui has six and Ngauruhoe Street east has two lights. •Who paid for all of the above? We, the ratepayers. • We all pay rates whether there be one house or 50 houses in the street, therefore I believe we are all entitled to the same benefits and if you took the trouble to look
you would see that Ngauruhoe Street west has no footpaths, no street lights and a road that is deteriorating so the rate-payers in Ngauruhoe Street west have yet to benefit from paying rates. Also you seem to have conveniently left out that: • Footpaths have been recommended for State Highway 49 and Ruanui Street. • Street lights have also been recommended for State Highway 49 and the walkway behind Ruanui Street. But I guess that unless you live in any of the , above roads you will also j disapprove of these rec- , ommendations as well. J Finally I must add that the mind boggles to think that someone like yourself can suggest that the Waiouru Community board is a farce when you can't even count as there are in fact six rate-payers in Ngauruhoe Street west and not five as you state.
