Punga pots ok, firewood not

The people who want to set up a firewood business in Owhango should appeal the declining of their application to do so, the Ruapehu District Council was told at their last meeting. During a discussion

on subdivision and land use applications, the matter of an application to manufacture punga pots and stockpile firewood at the old Taumarunui County Council depot in Ohorere St, Owhango was raised. The council heard that the punga pots proposal was approved by the council officer delegated to deal with such applications but that due to "procedural difficulties" the firewood application had to be declined. "But perhaps Cr Turley could make the applicant aware of his rights to appeal that decision," he said.
