Money machine at local dairy

An Ohakune dairy is one of the smallest stores in the country to have installed an electronic funds transfer at point of sale (EFT-POS) machine. Alan Smith of Rendezvous Dairy in Goldfinch Street said they had decided to install the system to be able to better serve both locals and winter visitors. He said many visitors came to Ohakune expecting to find automatic bank teller machines.

They now had the convenience of being able to buy supplies at the store without cash, if they had an automatic banking card. Locals too would benefit by being able to buy goods when they had been caught without cash outside banking hours. The store had also installed electronic bar code scanning which would enable the Smiths to provide a range of stock better targetted to what people wanted.
