Tenders process irks
Tenderers for Ruapehu District Council are being told of changes to tenders too late in the process. That was a view passed on to the council via the Waimarino Community Board last week. Board member John Compton said a number of people had spoken to him, saying they were concerned at the number of changes being made to tendered jobs during the final few days before tenders closed. Council community services director John Murrihy told the Board the council was complying with its own tender-
ing policy. He said it was not unusual for tenders to be amended until late in the process. He said Ruapehu Construction Limited, the council's business
unit, had not experienced any particular problems with the process. "Maybe we've (Ruapehu Construction) got an advantage because we are right there."
