Power cuts
Continued wet weather has been blamed for some power cuts in King Country Energy's areas - because the land the power poles were standing on had slipped away. Director Gordon Gower suggested this was understandable, when the matter was reported to the August board meeting.
"This must be the wettest place in the world at present". The rain and its effects have helped push up the number of minutes a King Country Energy customer is without power to an average 25.52 minutes for July, well above that which occurred in July last year. Vehicle accidents in Omori and Te Rangita contributed a total 26,700 lost customer minutes, with the added aggravation that the latter pole damage was done by a stolen car, with little chance of finding the culprits.
