• Two Ohakune people were arrested for burglaries last week after about $20,000 worth of stolen goods were found in a house in Taihape and at an Ohakune Property. Police believe most of the property was stolen from ski chalets as there is a large number of ski jackets and sleeping bags among the property recovered. Among the haul were five television sets, two microwaves, three videos, a chainsaw, a telescope, outboard motor, motor mower, and vacuum cleaners. Police believe the people arrested were part of an organised crime ring based in the Waimarino. • A ski chalet in Ti Kouka Place, Ohakune was found to have been burgled on 1 April. Couches, cutlery, plates, cooking utensils valued at $3000$5000 were taken. • A 30 year old man was arrested following an assault on a 13 year old boy on 31 March. The man grabbed the boy in Seddon Street, Raetihi and slapped him about the face several times. The offender then punched a hole in a wall then drove off yelling abuse at the complainant. • On 2 April Pricecutter in Raetihi was burgled. A window was smashed and cigarettes and cash taken. • On 4 April a house in Miro Street was found to have been burgled. Police said it appeared little was taken. And on 5 April a house in Arawa Street was found to have been burgled, sometime in the past four months. • A vacant ski house in Queen St Raetihi was found to have been burgled between 5 December 1991 and 28 March 1992. Alcohol, bedding, linen, clothing, ski gear, cutlery was taken. • A chainsaw and a post hole borer were taken from a farm shed on Fields Track between 29 March and 4 April. • On 30 March there was an attempted burglary at a King Street, Raetihi house, where nothing was taken. • On 3 April a case of wilful damage of a van outside Snowrock Cafe was reported.
