Raetihi rugby

The 1992 Raetihi Senior Rugby Season due to kick off this Saturday against Taihape Pirates will see the fitness programme introduced by New Senior Coach Mike Gordon put to the test.

Although the fitness and stamina levels of all players who took part in the programme was certainly lifted, the need to maintain those levels will be a special challenge to all players.

The senior team has already played a preseason game against Taumarunui Athletic. Raetihi held Taumarunui to a 6 nil margin at half time, but injuries to key Raetihi forwards saw the Taumarunui team dominate in the last 10 minutes, Taumarunui eventually ran out winners. With the ordering of new jerseys and shorts by the Raetihi rugby club for the senior and senior 'B' team this year shows the clear intention of the Raetihi Rugby club coach and players to make a positive beginning to the 1992 season and to ensure they are not labelled 'wooden spooners' for 1992
