Way cleared for land sale
The process of lifting of the designations of 'holding paddock' and 'camping ground' for two parcels of land near the Ruatiti domain, from the Ruapehu District Scheme was initiated at last Friday's full council meeting. The council intends to lift the designations to allow the land to be sold as surplus council property. One of the sections (adjacent to the Ruatiti Domain, with a house) is designated as Local Purpose Reserve Roadman's Cottage. The other section is just north of the cottage section and is partly cleared and partly in scrub. The council heard that the land has not been used as a holding
paddock for some time and was unlikely to be so used. Neither section has ever been used for camping. "The existing nearby camping facilities at Ruatiti Domain are unlikely to be extended beyond the Domain to Section 7 (the holding paddock)," said the report on the matter.
