Ruapehu District Council has been required to review its Charters. On August 23, 1990 the Royal NZ Corp of Transport was presented with a new Charter for the Town of Taumarunui. At Ohakune on October 25, 1991 Mayor Garrick Workman renewed the Charter held by the HMNZS Irirangi for the Freedom of the Town of Ohakune.
