Boarding house closed again

Ohakune's controversial Miro Street boarding house has been stopped from operating again, with the placement of a permanent injunction on the operation. This follows an appeal against the Ruapehu District Council's decision to allow the specified departure which would have seen the boarding house able to operate in a residential zone. The appeal, to the Planning Tribunal, is on the grounds that the Council did not consider the appropriate provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act 1977 and that the conditions imposed were inappropriate and inadequate. The injunction will remain until the appeal has been determined and the premises licensed.
