Combined information services suggested
The council's Ohakune service centre and the Ruapehu Visitor Centre may combine in the near future, if current negotiations prove fruitful. The council has approached the Ruapehu South Business Assoeiation with a proposal to combine thc
services under one roof, and the Waimarino Community Board has been asked to discuss the idea at their meeting this week. General manager Cliff Houston says in a report to the board on the matter that there could be economies of scale in
providing the services which are "essentially in the same business", through joint use of resources. The RSBA has agreed to look further at the idea and is considering the advantages to the operating of the visitor centre.
