Touch football
The touch demonstration at the Raetihi recreation grounds showed that the game caters for people from all sports and all walks of life. The Tama Tu Club from Wanganui came up and played the Turangi Club in the mixed masters, mixed, open ladies, and open men, as a demonstration for the huge turn out of locals. The Turangi teams were strong opponents but the Wanganui team were just a bit better drilled.
The day provided a picnic atmosphere with the Raetihi rugby club providing a hangi for lunch and an after-func-tion in the evening. The Wanganui (and Turangi )officials were a great help to the local organisers who are still learning the game. So far up to 20 teams have expressed interest in playing touch this year and registration of teams ends on the 30th October. Registrations can be made to Walter Sue or Don Windle.
