Derelict Raetihi buildings

A number of Raetihi buildings are derelict and need council attention, according to community board member John Compton. Mr Compton had called for a report on a number of Raetihi buildings. The board was told at their last meeting that the building inspector and fire department officers were endeavouring to obtain access to one, "The Golden Acre" in Seddon Street, but as yet had been unable to contact the owner. Mr Compton also cited the "Turner's Butcher" building in Seddon St as a hazard. He said there was broken glass hanging off the building, causing a danger to passing pedestrians and that it was a fire hazard.
