Top gear for NZ Winter Games organisers
The New Zealand Winter Games are now just six weks away and organisers said they are now in top gear to finalise plans for the events. "With all the signs of a good ski season right through, the New Zealand Winter Games organisation steps into top gear in the preparation of New Zealand's biggest ever series of sporting activity," said Yvonne Hefti, one of the organising team. "The beauty of these games is that they are for everyone - young or
old, men and women, to participate for enjoyment or even to become a New Zealand Winter Games Champion", said Mrs. Hefti. "Though Ohakune and the Central Plateau have justifiably claimed to be the North Island's ski
playground, the region will take on a new challenge and achieve new ambitions with the hosting of sports traditionally played in New Zealand over the winter, other than skiing." "The New Zealand
Winter Games, have the support of the "Drink Safe" programme of the Manawatu- Wanganui Area Health Board (sponsors of the "Over the Top" Ironman), Ski Yoghurt, Junction Ski Shop, Rivendell Computing( sponsors of the
multi-sport challenge), Pinex Timber, The Ruapehu South Business Association, Moore Construction, Pearson Davis, Corbans Wines, Railcorp Properties, Diamond Bluebird, Powderkeg Restaurant and Bar.
