Power record
More than 32MW of electricity was delivered to King Country Energy customers on Monday, 8 July - the highest load ever reached by the board. This was a third more than the June average ahd lifted the peak load purchased from Electricorp by 22 per cent. Daily saies for much of the month have been 25 per cent higher than the June average, showing the dramatic effect of skiing and the school holidays on the board's
load, general manager Peter Till told the July board meeting. Weather can also have a major effect, chief engineer Colin Martin said. "On Tuesday, 9 July, there was a northerly change and the load dropped four megawatts. On Wednesday it got cold again and up went the load once more. We didn't do anything different, so it shows just how much we can be affected by the weather".
