Ladies 1st p Chambers, 2nd E Goldfinch. The Pennant team continued their good form by defeating Hawkestone 6 1/2 to 2 1/2 and T aihape 7 1/2 to 1 1/2. Sponsor for Sundays golf was McLeans.

With lots back chat, shoving and barging in the lineouts the team appeared more like a senior reserve grade team and team captain Brian Bailey is going to have to kick a butt or two. Ohakune did however show some solid forward driving and featured well in the lineout stakes. Anthony Callaghan was awarded the man of the match and is an able fill in for the still injured Ray Brown. He played a reliable game with his tactical kicking and he also initiated and featured in one of the very few attacking plays which involved running from his own goal line with the ball ending up at the far end of the field. This demonstrated his excellent eye for the gaps. Paul Tamati shocked even himself when after a bit if loose play the ball popped into his hands and he raced away to score a run away try. Wanganui coach Peter Kemp attended the game as he had not had the chance this season to watch Ohakune-Karioi and he expressed interest in Harding, Mathews and even showed interest in the nuggety Steve Vine and Richard Lindsey. He was also impressed with the youngsters in the team. Lachlan Harding had a good goal kicking game bagging two penalties in the first half and a penalty and conversion in the second half, but his kick-offs need a bit of work. Ohakune-Karioi lost the game in the last few minutes of the game when the referee awarded Marton a penalty, claiming that Ohakune went over the top in one

of its drives. This penalty gave Marton its one point win.
