Ohakune-Karioi vs Marton
BY
SIDELINE
Ohakune-Karioi disappointed when they played the inexperienced new look Marton team on Saturday which Marton won 1615. In the first half Ohakune-Karioi chose to use the wind which sometimes became an awkward crosswind. Coach Graham Pike chose to play a typical Ohakune-Karioi tactical kick or kick-and-chase game. In contrast the Marton team preferred to run the ball and were rewarded with a try three minutes from the start of the game. Richard Lindsey made one good break from the scrum but was missing the support of his fellow loosies and after electing to go for the gap he was taken down. The front row set to high in the scrum and one would feel that a whole forward pack effort is needed more so than the front row only. Discipline was lacking in the pack as well.
