Road works clash with hill climb

The council's scheduling of road works on Shorts Hill when a car club hill climb had been arranged and advertised left the organising car club embarrassed, said Waimarino Community Board chairman Colin Webb at their meeting last Thursday. "It's no good - obviously the right hand doesn't know what the

left is doing," said Mr Webb. Mayor Garrick Workman said while it was unfortunate that the works had been started, causing difficulties for the club, the event had still been a success and that he was pleased that the work had at last been done. He said the road would now be a better course for future events.
